Jenny & James 5.8.10

Yeah, yeah I know...it was almost two weeks ago and I haven't gotten around to posting. Blah, blah...I'm heavily engrossed on working on a wedding gift for some friends. NO, I won't tell you what it is for fear that she will see this...but its going to be awesome, and it takes full brain power, so needless to say I've totally avoided some of my tasks. (Come August I'll show you what it is..)

Anyway, back to Jenny and James....everything was pink, and lovely, and smelled amazingly like summer. It poured all morning and all I wanted it to do was be sunny for them, I stomped around the shop curing at the rain...all I wanted was just 10 minutes of SUN. At 4pm sharp when I'm sure Jenny was walking down the very same aisle my parents once walked down the sky opened up to reveal the brightest most beautiful sun any bride could have asked for. Needless to say...it was a good day.

horrible...I know.

I'm the worst blogger ever...

Sometimes I find it hard to fill space when all I have to talk about is normal daily store junk. I mean I suppose I could tell you I spray painted my feet silver while painting a bunch of branches for my annual museum event. You may remember...THIS or THIS or maybe the three years before that? This year is totally devoid of color...it's pretty snazzy. Everything is black and white, and well...silver. Hence the silver feet, basically I'm a bonehead. Note to self...don't paint towards your feet while wearing flip flops. Doi.

I suppose I could show you some things that have gone out recently.... You know, just normal daily delivery type of things. Flowery junk...

I suppose I could show you the new monkeys which now inhabit the store... All of which we made long before 1960...they're pretty fantastic, and I'm having a hard time letting them go.

I suppose I could tell you that we have a big ol' wedding this weekend and that I promise I'll post some pictures from it next weekend...

I suppose I could remind you that its Mother's Day this Sunday and that we WILL be open on Sunday from 10-2....Moms as cool as this deserve flowers. Really, they do. (except she's mine...which means i'll most likely forget until the last minute. Sorry Mom)

I mean I could tell you all that stuff but I don't know how interesting or exciting it would be? So instead I'll just go spray paint the rest of my body silver and pretend I'm the silver surfer in the back driveway. If you see me riding some pavement waves, don't mind me...I've just inhaled to many fumes and I'm slowly going brain dead.

Jen & Tim 4.18.10

It rained, and then it was sunny....and then it rained again. It was freezing, and then it was warm, and then it was sunny again. I secretly jumped in puddles in the parking lot of the reception hall after I dropped everything off. Pretty much the perfect New England spring day...Jen looked gorgeous and from what I've seen from pictures on the ol' facebook everybody was smiling from ear to ear. Vintage-y, lace-y, quiet, soft and lovely...perfect combo for a spring day with a personality disorder.

Invisible bride...

I totally forgot to post this, because...well I am a bonehead. I made this bouquet and arrangement for a bridal show a couple weeks ago. Super vintage-y looking, everything down to the vintage lace on the handle to the classic 1950's sulfur yellow ceramic vase found during on of my many thrifting adventures. OH! and with that said my collection of vintage containers, is growing and if you would ever love a delivery done in one I would LOVE to do that. We currently have a ton of milk glass, the entire stock from a old soda fountain (little ice cream sundae cups, frappe glasses etc), old tins, vintage bottles...weee! Anyway, back to the flowers, because really thats why you're here right?

(I get asked this question ever time I post a picture of one of my bouquets in a jar...I send all wedding party bouquets out in labeled Mason Jars. They're super cute, make transportation sure duper easy for both myself and the bridal party, and totally relieve my stress about sending bouquets out with water.)

general all around shop news.

Things are opening left and right, reaching for the sunshine. The shops window boxes are getting a fresh coat of paint, Daffodils are slowly showing their silly little faces, and I find myself sitting on the front steps watching people walk by. Pollen is every where, and people are red-eyed and full of snot. Oh welcome spring, how I missed your minxy ways! With spring brings a whole new selection of flowers in the shop. Lilac and beautiful electric green Snowball Viburnum, flowering branches galore, Peonies ohhhhhhhh the Peonies and one of my all time favorites Boronia. Needless to say, I'm a happy camper...

With spring also comes a new employee, her name is Rebecca, and she's neato.

Wedding season is just around the corner and my filing cabinet is filled to the brim of lovely ladies and gentlemen who are getting ready to tie the knot. The pile of weddings just keeps growing too, in fact I've run out of empty files...note to self: buy more files. So, be prepared to be overwhelmed with event photos. (I'll apologize in advance...hehe, my bad!)

I can't keep a house plant in the shop for more then a few days...so there is always something new and green and happy for you to bring home. Currently the Gardenia plants have won me over...if only this was a scratch and sniff post.

And now...I will leave you with some little spring lovelies...oh, and DAMN, get outside why dontcha! It's too nice out to be reading this silliness...

Oh hi. It's officially 73 degrees outside, and I just wanted to rub it in.

flowerhead

Dear Brides, Prom goers, All around snazzy ladies,
I know a veil is traditional and pretty, and lovely. I also know that a birdcage veil is, trendy, retro and fun...I even know that a wrist corsage is just what you do for prom; but I have another idea...how about a flower headband? Let it be known that I worked with this thing on my head all day and never once did I want to throw it across the room like a baby does with a stupid sun hat. They're very comfy, totally adjustable for those with bowling ball sized heads like myself, but most of all they're FUN, and totally one of a kind! I mean really...isn't a wedding or a prom all about having fun anyway? I also know for a fact that you can dance with it on...because I secretly tested it out in the privacy of my office. Just throwing the idea out there for you to ponder, I apologize for the fact that the idea has my face attached to it though. Go forth and contemplate the amazingness of the flower headband!!

Oh, um in not such eloquent terms...the flowering branches are back...YESSSSSSSS!!! (fist pump!)

molly & eric 2.20.10

Oh I love a winter wedding...I really do. It's not a secret that I dislike the summer, and crave a winter hat and fuzzy sweater, so the idea of sweaters and coats, and hats all mixed with soft romantic details makes me all mushy inside; and Molly and Eric's wedding didn't let me down. Molly and her mom had been collecting elements for this wedding for well over a year. Boxes and boxes of birch bark, more feathers then even a bird would know what to do with, and the most amazing little vintage bottles and vases for me to play with. I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves (and man do I wish I could show you ALL of them, but I think you might get bored...promise)

...bring on the professional shots, I'm waiting on pins and needles!!
