...just because I think it's really pretty, and I wanted to keep it for myself. I made this for a recent event at the Woodstock VT historical society. Vintage dresses and clothing were paired with flower arrangements, and this was our entry to the event. I have to say I was pretty proud of myself, mostly because I had never even seen the dress in person. The color was spot on! (pats self on the back)

(don't mind the horrible waist band thingy...apparently the dress wouldnt stay on the form with out it, I personally think they could have found something far more pretty then a piece of elastic...boooooo)

Stephanie & Nate 6.4.11

There are so many things to say about Nate and Steph...but I can sum it all up with one statement. They're pretty fantastic. Nate and Steph got married where they met on the job years before, at a local organization called VINS who focuses on rehabing and releasing birds (BIGGGGGG birds, think hawks, owls and other feathery friends). So surrounded by birds, and the occasional turtle, under a beautiful tent, Nate and Steph partied down. Nate wore a kilt (I'm a sucker for a kilt), and Steph wore amazing boots appropriate for hopping over rocks, they ate Bangers and Mash, and the weather was PERFECT (seriously, 70 and sunny...and not a cloud in the sky) Can't get much better than that...(plus...they're just adorable)

The idea was to keep everything natural and relaxed, yet elegant. Nothing was fussy, soft herbs were mixed in throughout the personal flowers so that everything smelled like summer and birch was used to finish off all the boutonnieres and bouquets.

Tables were dressed with mismatched terrariums surrounded with moss, succulents and orchids, as well as fantastic mossy table numbers.

Guest we're told what to do by "little birdies", were given yummy apple butter...and were able to take home their place cards for an everlasting reminder of the day. All in all, I call this one a pretty rockin' success.

Kendell and Jame 5.21.11

Hi there! Remember me? In all honesty I visit the blog often thinking of things to write...I sit down to do type up something and I get distracted. Horrible excuse for my absence, I know. ANYWAY...we are in full swing wedding world over here, we've had 8 in the last two weeks and 3 more this coming weekend. I just got this fantastic link to Kendell and Jame's professional photos. North Photography does a wonderful job and Kathleen does a really beautiful job. Make sure to tell her what you think of her stuff!

So here are a few snippets, but be sure to follow this LINK to check out all the beautiful photos from their day. OH! Be sure to watch the slide show...I found myself a blubbering mess in my office when the photo of Jame watching Kendell walk down the aisle popped up. Man, I love it when boys cry.

There is a squirrel in my store.

Yes really...we've been chasing him for two days. He's currently hiding amongst vases and buckets. A customer saw him sunning himself in the window this afternoon, and as soon as I tried to shoo him out the door...he ran away to what must be the smallest of hiding spaces. I shall keep you posted on the shop squirrel. In the meantime, enjoy some of our going-ons. Weddings start up in full swing next weekend and we have 9...yes 9, in the next two weeks. I'll be in touch, promise.

Fabulous darling, just fabbbulous!

I am a HUGE fan of flower wearing, I often have broken blooms tucked into my very messy bun, or something tucked into a cardigans button hole. People have adorned themselves with flowers for as long as most can remember. There is just something special about having a fresh living thing pinned to you. Maybe it's the idea that it's a one of kind accessory, or that it smells good, or that it makes even the messiest of bun *cough, cough* look fancy!

I often wire beautiful orchids or garden roses for my brides hair, but folks...there is a new trend. It's a cross between a flower crown generally reserved for flowergirls or the "Mother Earth" type of bride, and something seen in the pages of Vogue. I lovingly refer to them as "Flower Piles"....

My gorgeous oh so serious in-store model Rebecca...proof of her ACTUAL personality down below. Rebecca actually thought this was so comfy, she even swept the floor and danced a little jig in it...

Now I understand that this is not for every bride...hell, it might only inspire one of you, but use the inspiration below to think just a tiny step out that that single orchid wired into your hair box. Bridal magazines, and Martha Stewart are lying to you, this is not the only option out there! There are so many fun ways to adorn yourself in flowers. Obviously having 10lbs of flowers on your head is not what I'm telling you do to...but maybe, just maybe if you ask me to make you something similar on a smaller scale...I might squeeeee! and get REALLY excited. Plus, imagine the photo opportunities....holy bridal goddess Batman!

See, you can't get more Goddess like than this...

In all seriousness, some amazing examples of the trend below....

SPRUNG!

Spring has finally...FINALLY sprung. The sun is slowly making its way back and best of all, so are the sunsets... (Obviously there are leaves in those there trees, but it's one of my favorite sunset shots from last summer...so just pretend for me, ok?)

I can't pretend I've been a good blogger for the past few weeks, because the truth of the matter is, I just couldn't pull it together. The end of winter makes me as about as inspired as a smack in the face and all I want to do is get into wedding world, so that I can make beautiful bouquets and fun centerpieces. It's coming...SOON! Instead I will make everyday arrangements for the lovely people of the Upper Valley in hopes of making their final days of the longest winter just a tad more bearable. But truth be told...the sun IS coming....and for a girl who hates the summer, I'm pretty damn excited.

I'll just pretend...

...that it's spring. I'm SO SO SO sick of snow, and especially ice. If I slip in my driveway one more time I'm suing Mother Nature.
