Caroline & Dave 6.18.11

A wedding in Fairlee, VT is never complete without a King Kone before or after drop off...so with a belly full of soft serve we made our way to Camp Ohana, one of my very favorite Upper Valley venues. If you have followed the blog you know how much I love this place...and how much I praise every wedding I do here. This one was no exception. Caroline and Dave wanted a classic preppy vibe filled with searsucker, hydrangea and classic blue blazers. I was happy to oblige. Little vintage hints of shell buttons and vintage ric-rac rounded out the look...oh and lets not forget our friends the lemons. Lemons are fun.

Abby-a styled shoot

A month or so ago I was asked by the AMAZING Jenny Moloney to provide some flowers for a last minute shoot she was doing with Abby, her model/friend. In less then 24 hours she managed to pull together, flowers, a gorgeous dress, stunning horses and a beautiful piece of property to shoot on. If any of you in the Upper Valley and surrounding areas are looking for a photographer, contact Jenny. She's the best...and she's so much fun too! Kaitlin & Tim 5.28.11

Becky tied the knot.

So listen, there are about 16-17 wedding that I haven't showed you yet this summer (because I'm a HORRIBLE slacker) and Becky's wedding was last weekend...but I love it enough to show it now. Plus its my blog and I can do whatever I want.

Becky didn't need a lot...just a few bouquets for herself, her sister and the moms. Not to mention a handful of boutonnieres and some tiny things for her flower girls. But quantity is not the name of the game here folks. Quality, quality, quality...who says you have to cover every inch of every man, woman and child not to mention the dog, your crazy Aunt Alice...and lets not forget Great Uncle Ned just to have a beautiful wedding? Ned doesn't like flowers anyway...just scotch.

Becky harvested the blueberries from her garden as well as the mint, wild raspberry and hosta...I went out the day before and picked the remaining lovelies from a couple local secret spots of mine, and with that. Beauty was born! All for very little money I might add, and I say this just so you folks contemplating DIY wedding flowers, wake up and smell the wedding cake. BAD IDEA, say it with me now....BAAAAADDDDD IDDDDDDEAAAA. (But thats for a different day, and a different snarky blog entry in which I tell you you're crazy.)

serious fail.

I am a seriously horrible blogger, but how can you blame me...I'm lost in a mist of flowers. I have maybe 15 weddings to tell you about, but well, I currently can't get my act together...but I promise I will write an actual picture heavy blog entry tomorrow. Cross my heart.

...just because I think it's really pretty, and I wanted to keep it for myself. I made this for a recent event at the Woodstock VT historical society. Vintage dresses and clothing were paired with flower arrangements, and this was our entry to the event. I have to say I was pretty proud of myself, mostly because I had never even seen the dress in person. The color was spot on! (pats self on the back)

(don't mind the horrible waist band thingy...apparently the dress wouldnt stay on the form with out it, I personally think they could have found something far more pretty then a piece of elastic...boooooo)

Stephanie & Nate 6.4.11

There are so many things to say about Nate and Steph...but I can sum it all up with one statement. They're pretty fantastic. Nate and Steph got married where they met on the job years before, at a local organization called VINS who focuses on rehabing and releasing birds (BIGGGGGG birds, think hawks, owls and other feathery friends). So surrounded by birds, and the occasional turtle, under a beautiful tent, Nate and Steph partied down. Nate wore a kilt (I'm a sucker for a kilt), and Steph wore amazing boots appropriate for hopping over rocks, they ate Bangers and Mash, and the weather was PERFECT (seriously, 70 and sunny...and not a cloud in the sky) Can't get much better than that...(plus...they're just adorable)

The idea was to keep everything natural and relaxed, yet elegant. Nothing was fussy, soft herbs were mixed in throughout the personal flowers so that everything smelled like summer and birch was used to finish off all the boutonnieres and bouquets.

Tables were dressed with mismatched terrariums surrounded with moss, succulents and orchids, as well as fantastic mossy table numbers.

Guest we're told what to do by "little birdies", were given yummy apple butter...and were able to take home their place cards for an everlasting reminder of the day. All in all, I call this one a pretty rockin' success.
