Josh & Jeff 9.18.10

I wish I could just let these pictures speak for themselves, but alas I have WAY to much to say. First of all...I love that Josh and Jeff trusted me to make something fun, and totally original. Josh and Jeff were married on a HUGE piece of magically property, complete with a private lake, and a floating gazebo which became their ceremony area. Inside the gazebo I hung a giant orb of sunflowers which added a little pop of color midst all the wood.

We agreed to use the colors of the Jeff's family tartan as a jumping off point. Josh then told me his favorite flowers were sunflowers, so I decided to use sunflowers in different shades to be the one unifying element as each table was going to be TOTALLY different. The tables were all found and painted high gloss white, as were all of the containers. Different styles, shapes, heights added to the fun unexpected feeling of the wedding.

Note to future wedding clients....if you give me a golf cart or a gator to drive around in, I'll most likey be as happy as a pig in sh*t. SO for that I thank the most handsome, nicest, most trusting couple for making my gator dreams come true.

Lindley & Mike 9.18.10

In all seriousness, I've been totally slacking on the blogging. I have 10...yes 10 weddings to post since the last. So, maybe I shouldn't say a whole lot and just let the pictures do the talking. Lindley and Mike had some really special details...so all I'm going to say is: vintage felt birds, the most gorgeous vintage ribbon, feathers, and deep dark jewel tones. YUM.

Current ramblings of a congested florist

•I'm currently a walking booger. (super congested)
•All I want to do is melt on the couch and watch bad TV (House Hunters International anyone?)
•I made a pretty rockin' grilled cheese last night (avocado, bacon and carm. onions...yup)
•I've been reading this book. (its really lovely and makes me wish I drank more tea)

•I have SO many weddings to share with you, but well I'm currently to busy "cleaning" my desk.
(As you can see....um, I'm lying, but at least you know I have a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert! Weddings coming your way...I promise; but first I must finish "cleaning")

• I've decided to only wear masks to work from now on...for fear of only ever being recognized as "The Flower Girl" (plus, it's kind of a hot look..no?)

•I just realized that if I had anymore empty drink bottles on my desk that I may start to look like a homeless lady collecting bottles. (Current count...5)
•The new Martha Stewart Living makes me feel like I'm REALLY lame when it comes to Halloween decorations...must get on the ball. (Any ideas? Because I'm fresh out...I think the boogers have eaten my brain)
•I really love living here, it's super pretty...you should visit. (Make sure you stop in and say hi, I'm kind of shy upon first meeting, but I warm up quickly)

Emma & Mike 9.4.10

Its pretty obvious that I rarely do a "classic" looking wedding...I'm usually playing with grasses and berries and kooky garden flowers, so when Emma and Mike decided that they wanted clean lines, minimal colors and classic flowers with a modern twist I was secretly pretty excited. Weddings like theirs let me practice my fancy pants skills. Wiring TONS of orchids, arranging calla lilies which might as well give me the middle finger, (Those pesky buggers never stay where you want them!) and creating mounds of the most amazingly vibrant green roses. The thing I forget about the "classic" wedding is that they're so much more time consuming, because if one thing is out of place you really notice it...glaringly so. Where as in the normal garden style weddings I usually do, if one flower has decided it wants to lean to the left I say "Well check you out Mr. Lefty Leaner....here have some grass tucked into that bald spot!" Needless to say I was pretty happy with the end result, and even more happy with Emma and my much thought about linen choice. (Final choice...Emma, High-5!) Proof that color and pattern on a table can really make things come alive! Oh, and I really hope that Mike loved the last minute surprise sailboat table numbers...because I wanted to print them out all over my office wall in rainbow colors. Wallpaper anyone?

Yup...you're right, its a cake topper!

Don't mind the plastic on these bad boys...it protects them during transport, personally I think it's a hot look.

Hannah and Rick 9.5.10

Dear "Hurricane" Earl, I not only would like to thank you for cooling down New England, as the beginning of last week was Africa hot, but I would also like to thank you for not raining and allowing my Labor Day weddings to have amazingly perfect cool end of summer weather. Pshhhh and you call yourself a hurricane!? FAIL. Anyway, Hannah and Rick got married at Camp Ohana (same with Lucy and Michael from the previous post)....check it out if your looking for something classic Vermont, its gorgeous. I have a HUGE soft spot for anything that resembles summer camp. (Here is where I will plug my much loved childhood summer camp....GO Billings!) Huge dining halls, cabins scattered throughout the woods, giant pine trees...it all reminds me of being young and totally in love with summer. Which if you been following the blog for some time now you know that my love affair with summer is LONG GONE. Seriously, I highly dislike it....I'll just chalk it up to being "old" and grumpy. The great part of doing a wedding at Ohana is that all of your guests can stay there in the cabins, so on Saturday Hannah and Rick hosted a welcome dinner for everybody. We kept it simple with sunflowers in vintage bottles....super easy, but really has an impact.

Wedding day.... possibly some of my favorite bouquets of the season. Yup...I would like to thank the Juliet garden roses for making that possible.

(I mean...COME ON with that ruffled prettiness!)

(Hello, Mr. Cake Topper....how YOU doin?)

(Oh...and if you're looking for a view...thats the place to be.)

Lucy and Michael 8.28.10

Not to much to say except...um, I love Lucy, and I'm so happy that after all she went through while planning her wedding that her and Michael got married on the most beautiful, perfect, amazing day.

(PS. I stole some of these pictures from Lucy's facebook page...don't get me in trouble. Thanks Lucy's friend!)

Nathalie & Thad 8.7.10

Yeah, yeah, I know...it was a couple weeks ago. Deal with it, my brain is still mushy.
