Zabby & Sam 7.10.10

Its been 4000 degrees here. The kind of hot where you can feel your skin sliding off your body, your hair is constantly damp and there is no possible way to keep cool. Even with the waterfalls, swimming holes, lakes, ponds and rivers galore around here, jumping in them pretty much feels like swimming in a giant bathtub. (pretty though...right?)

So imagine the amount of joy I felt when the heat finally broke due to rain and I got to deliver a wedding on top of a mountain!? OoOOoO cool weather how I love you so. I could have rolled around in the grass up there for hours, but alas I had to set up a wedding. Both Zabby and Sam quickly laid it out in one word for me. "FUN"...there was to be nothing formal, stuffy or at all boring. They were there for a good time. So in a round room, on top of a mountain, in a building with a bouncy house outside the window I set up their wedding. Personally...I'm kinda in love.

isabel.

Isabel called me 4 days before her July 4th wedding in hopes of getting some small bouquets made. I was automatically concerned about getting the appropriate things for her on such short notice on a holiday week, but in the end I was pretty much in lust with the giant buttery yellow dahlias and wee little fever few I was able to get. After standing and staring at the bouquets all done, I kept throwing out the work "precious"...which I usually despise. I mean really, who wants to be called precious? But...well these were, and just for that one day I really liked that word.

(it also seems to be that Rebecca is now matching her shoes to the flowers I make her hold)

(the flower holder extraordinaire just felt like showing you how excited she about these bouquets)

Just some recently loveliness from our neck of the woods. Hope you are smiling.

Natalie & AJ 6.19.10

Both Natalie and AJ asked for something kind of different, a little outside the box, and I knew just where to go with it. Fiddleheads, succulents, pitcher plants, lisianthus and orchids. Simple, unique, quirky and so damn stylish. Its a well known fact that purple is not one of my favorite colors...in fact I think I've even told a friend that I think it "should die" but MAN.....I sure love a purple Vanda Orchid. Something about the slight checker board pattern kills me, even makes my heart beat a little faster. Off I go to swoon over the last stem left....OoOoOOO AHahhhhHHhhHhhh....

Cake toppah...

anybody want to play tetris with their centerpieces?

ms. treadwell

I just thought I would take a moment and introduce you to Ms. Treadwell. I fancy young lady with silly voices who happily cuts flower stems, makes a MEAN corsage and best of all, makes me laugh. Welcome her to wackyville. I think she'll fit in just fine.

Katrina & Ori 5.30.10

Wet grass, omelet bars, fresh salmon, tables tucked into gardens, honeysuckle in the air, me fluttering through the garden, my hair blowing behind me, cartoon birds landing on my shoulder....ohhhh I love a morning wedding! Wait...I take that back. REWIND.....I love the idea of a morning wedding, my body however really hates the idea of waking up early on a Sunday. It yelled at me, told me to get back in bed and pull the covers over my head. My cat however told me it was time to feed her giant fat face and wouldn't leave me alone the second she saw me peaking out from under the covers. I'll thank her now or else I would have easily fallen back to sleep. Luckily it was a gorgeous day and once I was up, I was allll about playing in the sunshine.

Katrina and Ori had some really lovely personal touches. A vintage dress passed down by her family, a cake made by her mother and old Isreali books on each table to be used as guest books. I love the idea of writing a message to the bride and groom amidst stories. I only with I knew what the books were. (NOTE: time to learn Hebrew)

Jenny & James 5.8.10

Yeah, yeah I know...it was almost two weeks ago and I haven't gotten around to posting. Blah, blah...I'm heavily engrossed on working on a wedding gift for some friends. NO, I won't tell you what it is for fear that she will see this...but its going to be awesome, and it takes full brain power, so needless to say I've totally avoided some of my tasks. (Come August I'll show you what it is..)

Anyway, back to Jenny and James....everything was pink, and lovely, and smelled amazingly like summer. It poured all morning and all I wanted it to do was be sunny for them, I stomped around the shop curing at the rain...all I wanted was just 10 minutes of SUN. At 4pm sharp when I'm sure Jenny was walking down the very same aisle my parents once walked down the sky opened up to reveal the brightest most beautiful sun any bride could have asked for. Needless to say...it was a good day.

(centerpieces all boxed and ready to go!)

horrible...I know.

I'm the worst blogger ever...

Sometimes I find it hard to fill space when all I have to talk about is normal daily store junk. I mean I suppose I could tell you I spray painted my feet silver while painting a bunch of branches for my annual museum event. You may remember...THIS or THIS or maybe the three years before that? This year is totally devoid of color...it's pretty snazzy. Everything is black and white, and well...silver. Hence the silver feet, basically I'm a bonehead. Note to self...don't paint towards your feet while wearing flip flops. Doi.

I suppose I could show you some things that have gone out recently.... You know, just normal daily delivery type of things. Flowery junk...

I suppose I could show you the new monkeys which now inhabit the store... All of which we made long before 1960...they're pretty fantastic, and I'm having a hard time letting them go.

I suppose I could tell you that we have a big ol' wedding this weekend and that I promise I'll post some pictures from it next weekend...

I suppose I could remind you that its Mother's Day this Sunday and that we WILL be open on Sunday from 10-2....Moms as cool as this deserve flowers. Really, they do. (except she's mine...which means i'll most likely forget until the last minute. Sorry Mom)

I mean I could tell you all that stuff but I don't know how interesting or exciting it would be? So instead I'll just go spray paint the rest of my body silver and pretend I'm the silver surfer in the back driveway. If you see me riding some pavement waves, don't mind me...I've just inhaled to many fumes and I'm slowly going brain dead.
